For The i Paper, Tracey — a self-confessed 40-time Rivals rereader — took Miss Babs to Tetbury, the Cotswolds town Disney+ dressed up as Cotchester for its Jilly Cooper adaptation, and stayed at the Hare & Hounds where the cast bunked.
Tracey has read Rivals close to 40 times — she knows Cotchester like she grew up there. So when Disney+ picked Tetbury as its stand-in for Jilly Cooper's fictional TV-franchise town, she packed the dog and drove up for The i Paper. Long Street shop fronts were dressed as 1980s displays, Berkeley House stood in for Cameron Cook's Hamilton Terrace, St Mary's Church became St Agnes and St Isaac of Cotchester, and nearby Elizabethan pile Chavenage House played Rupert Campbell-Black's Penscombe. She stayed at the Hare & Hounds in Westonbirt (where cast and crew bunked), let Miss Babs romp through Silk Wood in the Arboretum opposite, and worked her way through Highgrove shortbread, Snooty Fox pints and Lola & Co tapas — hoping Rivals will do for Tetbury what Poldark did for Chavenage.
