Tracey took The Sun to Ramsgate — Kent's slightly gritty answer to Margate — for Furby organs, 2.5 miles of WW2 tunnels, the only royal harbour in the UK and, obviously, the world's biggest Wetherspoons.
Margate gets the hype but Ramsgate, Tracey reckoned, is quietly out-weirding its neighbour — from Sam Battle's This Museum Is (Not) Obsolete (home of the Furby organ and a 1,000-oscillator megadrone) to 2.5 miles of tunnels dug as an air-raid shelter in 1939. She threaded the visit around the UK's only officially royal harbour, the 11,000 sq ft Royal Victoria Pavilion (aka the world's biggest Wetherspoons), and Addington Street's vinyl-and-vintage indie quarter, before walking the two-mile coastal path to Broadstairs. Verdict: gritty, artsy and well worth the 1hr 15 from St Pancras.
